Split proposed for maternal support pilot project

The city of Split has been proposed as one of four cities, alongside Zagreb, Rijeka, and Osijek, to implement a pilot support model for mothers titled ‘Mama, tu smo’ (Mama, we are here).

During a meeting between Split Mayor Tomislav Šuta, Deputy Mayor Ive Bilić, and Minister of Demography and Migration Ivan Šipić, officials discussed expanding demographic measures beyond financial benefits. The proposed model aims to provide organized support to mothers during the first three months following childbirth. This includes assistance with newborn care, help with daily obligations, and psychological and professional counseling.

A joint working group consisting of the City of Split and the Ministry will continue to define the key elements and implementation methods for the project.
