Split‑Dalmatia police log rise in computer fraud, thefts and road accidents
In the past 24 hours the Split‑Dalmatian police recorded a range of criminal incidents. Officials logged one serious computer fraud, two threats, three cases of property damage, nine thefts—including three serious robberies—and seven traffic collisions that left one person seriously injured and three with minor injuries.
Maritime police also reported sanctioning 63 violations over the previous week, issuing fines for illegal jet‑ski operation, alcohol‑impaired boating and other offences around the islands of Hvar, Šolta, Brač and near Split.
Separately, the Split‑Dalmatian police received three criminal complaints about a SMS‑based phishing scam that impersonated OTP Bank. Victims who clicked the fraudulent links and entered banking credentials lost €406, €1,005 and €884 respectively, a total of roughly €2,300. Authorities warned the public not to follow links in unsolicited banking messages.
