Splitski kantun to attend Mediterranean Book Festival with record participants

The Splitski kantun publishing initiative is set to participate in the ninth Mediterranean Book Festival with a record number of participants. The event will take place at Splitske Gripe from September 23 to September 27.

This year, the initiative includes 28 participants, consisting of 11 publishers, 7 cultural institutions, 1 association, and 9 independent authors. Founders Kate Bošković and Mirjana Bošković Smrekar, who also own the children's literature brand Slatkopedija, noted that the growth of the initiative has exceeded all expectations.

The initiative aims to provide a platform for Split-based publishing and previously unknown authors to reach a wider audience. Notably, 12 of this year's participants are presenting with only a single title, an arrangement that helps manage the high costs of participating in such a large-scale event. The group also includes representatives from outside the Split-Dalmatia County, such as the Center for Culture Vela Luka, which is presenting a monograph on Oliver Dragojević.
