SpoGOMI Koshien 2026 regional waste collection contests held in Japan

The SpoGOMI Koshien 2026 regional competitions were held in Hiroshima and Saitama, featuring high school students competing to collect the most waste within designated areas to raise awareness about ocean pollution.

In the Hiroshima Prefecture tournament, the team ‘Juo Mujin’ from Hiroshima University High School secured a consecutive victory, collecting 14.97kg of waste and earning 2,671.5 points. A total of 90 participants across 31 teams collected 78kg of trash in central Hiroshima.

In the Saitama Prefecture tournament held at Omiya Park, the team ‘SDG’z’ from Kawaguchi Technical High School won the competition. They collected 14.06kg of waste, totaling 2,726 points. The Saitama event saw 64 participants from 22 teams collect a total of 26.06kg of waste.
