Spokane Wildfires Spur Donation Campaigns Across Washington
Wildfires raging through the Spokane region have burned thousands of acres, with the Autumn Lane, Old Trails and Fairview fires partially contained. More than 65,000 residents have been evacuated and hundreds of buildings destroyed. The City of Spokane activated the H.O.M.E. Starts Here Fund to provide short‑ and long‑term rental assistance, transportation, replacement documents, medical equipment, diapers, formula, clothing, school supplies, furniture and other essentials. Attorney General Nick Brown urged Washingtonians to donate securely and warned of scammers exploiting disaster relief efforts.
In Enumclaw, businessman Casey James of Diamond J Junk Removal organized a local drive to collect bottled water, Gatorade, granola bars, baby supplies, feminine hygiene products, phone chargers and other items. James plans to deliver the donations to Access Church Spokane by August 10, supporting families displaced by the fires.
