Spoleto athletics track renovation and gym reopening drive community fundraising

Renovation work on the historic athletics track in Spoleto's Piazza d'Armi has forced local athletes to train in other towns. The Atletica 2S club launched an online fundraising campaign to buy a nine‑seat minibus for transporting athletes to competitions and training sessions, offering small thank‑you gifts to donors.

Meanwhile, the San Martino school gym in the Trignano district of Spoleto has reopened after a comprehensive refurbishment. The project, financed largely by the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan with a €976,000 grant and an overall investment of about €1.24 million, upgraded structures, insulation, heating, electrical systems and introduced energy‑saving measures. Mayor Andrea Sisti highlighted the gym’s role as a modern community hub.

Both initiatives aim to improve the town’s sports infrastructure and address the temporary disruptions caused by the track works.
