Spoleto discusses new urban police regulations and safety measures

The municipality of Spoleto is reviewing its urban police regulations to enhance public safety, tranquility, and livability. During a meeting at the town hall, Mayor Andrea Sisti, Councilor Federico Cesaretti, and Local Police Commander Alessandra Pirro met with residents, business owners, and economic category representatives to discuss the implementation of these rules, particularly regarding Piazza della Vittoria.

The proposed regulations aim to manage the use of public spaces and protect the quality of urban life. Key provisions include prohibitions on temporary or permanent bivouacking, nuisance begging, and the unauthorized moving of urban furniture. Violations may result in administrative fines ranging from 50 to 300 euros.

Furthermore, the municipality is identifying approximately 25 sensitive areas, including various streets, squares, and gardens, where law enforcement can issue orders to remove individuals exhibiting harassing behavior. If such behavior is repeated, the Questore of Perugia may issue an urban Daspo, prohibiting access to specific areas. This measure follows the 2017 Minniti decree, allowing local authorities to designate zones where certain behaviors incompatible with the area's purpose are restricted.
