Sponge announces final studio album ‘Recuerda Tu Muerte’

Detroit-based alternative rock band Sponge has announced that their upcoming studio album, ‘Recuerda Tu Muerte’, will be their final one. The 10-song farewell record is scheduled for release on October 2.

To introduce the album, the band released a new single titled ‘Self Inflicted Loss’, described by frontman Vinnie Dombroski as a dark, psychedelic track. The song’s official music video was produced by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios using a combination of stop-motion and downshooter clay animation. The video features modified 1970s Fisher-Price Adventure People action figures and a setting inspired by the band’s 1994 debut, ‘Rotting Pinata’.

The new album was produced by Dombroski and guitarist Andy Patalan in Detroit. The tracklist includes songs addressing various themes, such as ‘Lead Gods’, which discusses gun violence, and ‘Lost Pilot’, an elegy for the late Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots.
