Spooky media and stage productions highlight seasonal horror themes
Various horror-themed entertainment offerings are gaining attention, ranging from animated series to musical theater.
The anime series “The Red Notebook” follows Fushigi Chino, a boy in a red hood who uses a mystical notebook to investigate and capture Japanese urban legends. Accompanied by his partner Jimmy, a photographer transformed into a dog with a human face, Fushigi seeks to uncover the truth regarding his twin sister, Himitsu, while protecting people from supernatural entities.
In Sioux Falls, the Premiere Playhouse is staging “Goosebumps: The Musical” at the Orpheum Theater. Based on R. L. Stine’s “Phantom of the Auditorium,” the production tells a story-within-a-story about a high school musical production that may be cursed following a mysterious disappearance decades earlier. Performances are scheduled for late October and early November.
