Alafouzos group secures UEFA European rights through 2031
The Alafouzos media group, through its platform Spor FM TV, has reportedly secured the television rights for the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League for the 2027–2031 period. The deal, which is considered one of the largest in the Greek sports broadcasting market, is estimated to be worth between 300 and 330 million euros.
The agreement covers approximately 500 matches annually. Broadcasts are expected to be available via Spor FM TV and the SKAI television network. This acquisition follows a competitive bidding process managed by Relevent Football Partners on behalf of UEFA, where the Alafouzos group emerged victorious over the Percapita consortium, a partnership involving business figures such as Vangelis Marinakis, Giannis Vardiniyannis, and Thodoris Kyriakou.
This strategic move significantly expands the Alafouzos group's sports portfolio, which already includes rights for the Greek Cup, the Basket League, and home matches for Panathinaikos and Iraklis. The high valuation of the deal, representing roughly 75 to 80 million euros per season, marks a substantial increase compared to previous broadcasting cycles.
