Spor FM TV set to launch as SKAI Group expands sports broadcasting

The SKAI Group, led by Giannis Alafouzos, is preparing to launch its new sports broadcasting platform, Spor FM TV. While an official announcement is pending, the most likely launch date is Friday, October 2, timed to coincide with the start of the Stoiximan GBL basketball season.

To encourage audience adoption, the platform is expected to remain free of charge until the end of 2026. The service will feature significant sports content, including home matches for Panathinaikos and Iraklis in the Super League, as well as potential coverage of the Greek Cup.

A major component of the group's sports strategy is the acquisition of Stoiximan GBL broadcasting rights for the next three years in a deal valued at approximately 25 million euros. While some games will be aired on the SKAI free-to-air channel, Spor FM TV will serve as the primary home for the basketball league.
