Sport Club do Recife faces management dispute over finances

The opposition group 'Sport Unido', led by Gustavo Dubeux and Branquinho, has issued a manifesto criticizing the current management of Sport Club do Recife, headed by President Matheus Souto Maior and Kadico Pereira.

The opposition group raised concerns regarding financial transparency, the club's football department, and the ongoing SAF and Ilha do Retiro retrofit processes. Specifically, they highlighted an alarming projected deficit of R$ 58 million for 2026 and questioned the sale of midfielder Zé Lucas for a value below initial expectations.

In response, President Matheus Souto Maior defended the administration's work during its transition period. He cited the difficult financial situation inherited at the start of the year, including R$ 70 million in overdue debts. Regarding the sale of Zé Lucas, the management explained the financial structure of the deal, noting that the club will receive approximately R$ 26.5 million in the short term while retaining a stake in future transfers.
