Sport Club do Recife to honor Magrão with farewell match and statue

Sport Club do Recife has announced a farewell match for legendary goalkeeper Magrão, titled ‘O Último Milagre’ (The Last Miracle). The event is scheduled for October 31 at the Ilha do Retiro stadium, marking the official end of his career with the club.

As part of the tributes, a bronze statue of the former goalkeeper, created by artist Jurandir Maciel, will be unveiled during the festivities. The sculpture is currently being finalized with precise adjustments to proportions and facial expressions to ensure a faithful representation. Once revealed, the statue will remain on permanent display at the Ilha do Retiro stadium.

The farewell project is a partnership between the club and its master sponsor, Betnacional. During a press conference, Magrão expressed his emotional connection to the club and the fans, noting that the match represents the closing of a significant chapter in his life.
