Sport fishing tournaments held in Angola and Portugal
The Ta Lan team from Luanda won the third edition of the ‘Lobito Billfish Classic’ sport fishing tournament in Lobito, Angola. Despite three days without any catches, the team secured the top spot with 3,750 points, including three blue marlins. The Malembeiros team finished in second place, followed by the Caipirinheiros in third.
The event featured 87 fishermen from various nations, including Angola, Portugal, South Africa, England, Austria, France, Denmark, and Sweden. Organizers noted that while catch volumes were lower than the previous year, the tournament successfully attracted international interest and potential new sponsors for future editions.
In Portugal, Coruche is set to host the 72nd World Championship of Freshwater Sport Fishing Nations. Scheduled from August 30 to September 6, the competition will take place along the Sorraia River and will feature 20 national teams competing for the world title. The event includes official opening and closing ceremonies in the town center.
