Sport supporter seeks release after alleged assault on police officer

A defense attorney has filed a request for the release of a Sport supporter accused of assaulting a military police officer during a match against CRB at the Rei Pelé stadium in Maceió.

The suspect, identified as Mateus, surrendered voluntarily to the Fan Police Station in Recife following a preventive arrest warrant issued by the 12th Criminal Court of Alagoas. The arrest was the result of a joint operation between the police forces of Alagoas and Pernambuco. In addition to the assault charge, authorities noted the individual has a prior history of illegal firearm possession. The legal proceedings are currently under judicial secrecy.
