Sportfreunde Siegen dismisses coach Boris Schommers

Sportfreunde Siegen has dismissed head coach Boris Schommers following a poor start to the Regionalliga West season. After only two competitive matches, the club has secured just one point, recording a 2-3 loss against Westfalia Rhynern and a 1-1 draw against VfB Hilden.

Managing Director Matthias Georg stated that while the club appreciates Schommers' engagement and passion, the decision was necessary because the team's performance levels were “completely indisputable” and threatened the club's sporting objectives. Schommers, who previously coached 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga, had himself criticized the team's performance as a “catastrophe” following the match against Hilden.
