Sporting and Marítimo lead Portuguese handball championship

In the fifth round of the national handball championship, Sporting CP and Marítimo remain tied at the top of the standings with 15 points each, maintaining perfect winning records.

Sporting CP secured a decisive 43-27 victory away against Belenenses, leading 25-11 at halftime. Marítimo narrowly defeated Póvoa AC with a 38-37 win at home. FC Porto moved into third place with 12 points following a 40-24 victory over Carvalhos.

Benfica also secured a win, defeating Artística de Avanca 38-20 at the Luz pavilion. This victory brings Benfica to fourth place with 11 points, following two previous losses in the competition.
