Taranto considered for Olympic training center after Mediterranean Games
Following the Mediterranean Games 2026, Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi has expressed interest in transforming Taranto into a permanent Olympic preparation center, leveraging the city's existing high-quality infrastructure and organizational capacity.
In San Marino, the Captains Regent held an audience for the San Marino Team to celebrate their success at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, where the delegation secured four medals in bocce and shooting.
Various regional sporting and social initiatives are also underway across Italy. In Viterbo, the European Week of Sport 2026 promoted health and inclusion through the Viterbo Half Marathon. In Le Castella, the ‘Un mare di inclusione’ project used technology to help people with disabilities explore marine biodiversity.
