Sporting CP draws 1-1 against Famalicão

Sporting CP dropped points in their match against Famalicão, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Sporting initially took the lead late in the game through a penalty converted by Luis Suárez. However, Famalicão responded following the expulsion of Roméo Beney.

In stoppage time, Sporting captain Gonçalo Inácio scored an own goal to equalize the match. This result means Famalicão will not enter October at the top of the Primeira Liga, as FC Porto and Benfica have moved ahead in the standings.

Other notable developments included the return of João Simões to competition with the B team following a foot injury, and Flávio Gonçalves being named the Liga Portugal best young player for August.
