Sporting and FC Porto roll out pre‑season squads and training updates
Sporting CP began its pre‑season camp in the Algarve on 11 July, assembling a 31‑player squad that mixes experienced heads with promising youngsters. New arrivals include English winger Jesse Derry on loan from Chelsea, Georgian midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili and Greek defender Georgios Vagiannidis. Youth products such as Rodrigo Dias, Rafael Mota and Afonso Lee remain in the group, while Uruguay internationals Rodrigo Zalazar and Maxi Araújo are set to join later, bringing the total to 33.
Meanwhile, FC Porto announced that eleven players are required to report on Monday as the club sorts out their futures ahead of the 2026/27 season. The list features prospects Samuel Portugal, Gabriel Veron, Iván Jaime and goalkeeper Diogo Fernandes, alongside several others – Felipe Silva, Kotaro Nagata, Kauê Rodrigues, Domingos Andrade, Léo Fajardo, Dennis Konney and Leonardo Vonic – who are currently seeking new clubs. Negotiations are reported with Botafogo for Andrade, São Paulo for Silva, and interest from the Middle East and MLS for Veron and Jaime.
FC Porto B also disclosed that four players are sidelined with injuries as the team prepares for its next Liga Portugal 2 fixture at the Olival training complex. The medical report confirms their unavailability, prompting tactical adjustments and increased responsibilities for remaining squad members while rehabilitation continues under the club’s high‑level recovery facilities.
