Sporting CP manager Rui Borges nears Champions League record

Sporting CP manager Rui Borges is approaching a record held by Ruben Amorim. As the team prepares for a Champions League match against Lens, Borges seeks his eighth victory in the competition to equal Amorim’s achievement. Borges has already surpassed Amorim in home wins at the Estádio José Alvalade, securing six victories. His tenure has also been financially significant, contributing to over 80 million euros in revenue through European campaigns.

In Brazil, Portuguesa is considering Arena Inamar in Diadema as a temporary home for 2027 due to modernization works at the Canindé stadium. The decision involves logistical, structural, and cost considerations. Other potential venues, such as Pacaembu, face challenges regarding high operational costs and previous financial disputes, while others like Rua Javari may not meet the minimum capacity requirements set by the Federação Paulista de Futebol.
