Sporting CP moves to renew contracts for Catamo and Fresneda
Sporting CP has initiated contract renewal negotiations for both Geny Catamo and Iván Fresneda to secure their long-term futures amid interest from major European clubs.
For Geny Catamo, the club is considering extending his contract until 2031. This proposal includes a salary increase and a potential rise in his release clause from 60 million to 80 million euros. The move follows interest from several Premier League clubs, including Sunderland, which previously had bids rejected.
Simultaneously, the club is accelerating talks with Iván Fresneda. The Spanish U-21 international could see his contract extended to 2031 with a salary increase to over 1 million euros net per year. His current release clause of 80 million euros is expected to remain unchanged. Fresneda has drawn attention from high-profile clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
