Sporting CP nears 4 million euro deal for Palmeiras goalkeeper Kaique

Sporting CP is nearing a deal to sign 23-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Kaique Pereira from Palmeiras for 4 million euros. The transfer marks a historic sale for Palmeiras, as it represents the highest fee ever received by the club for a goalkeeper.

Kaique, who previously played in Portugal for Farense and Nacional on loan, is expected to sign a five-year contract. The move is intended to provide competition for Sporting's current starter, Rui Silva, and to replace João Virgínia, who is reportedly departing for Turkish football.

Despite being a third-choice goalkeeper at Palmeiras upon his return from Europe, Kaique chose Sporting due to the club's qualification for the Champions League. Palmeiras will retain a 10% stake in any future profit from a subsequent transfer of the player.
