Sporting CP rejects Sunderland bid for Geny Catamo

Negotiations between Sporting CP and Sunderland AFC regarding Mozambican winger Geny Catamo have reached an impasse due to valuation differences. Sunderland previously submitted an offer consisting of 30 million euros fixed plus 10 million euros in variables, which Sporting rejected.

Reports indicate that Sporting CP is demanding a fixed fee of 40 million euros to release the 23-year-old player. While Catamo has reportedly expressed interest in playing in English football, he remains fully integrated into the squad under coach Rui Borges and is not attempting to force a move.

Sporting maintains a firm stance due to Catamo's importance to the team at the start of the season, having already recorded three assists. The club is wary of the transfer window deadline, as any sale would require them to find a replacement quickly.
