Sporting CP reports 69.9 million euro windfall from Viktor Gyökeres sale

According to Sporting CP’s 2025/26 financial report, the sale of striker Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal has generated a total of 69.9 million euros for the club. The transfer, which included a fixed fee of 65.8 million euros, reached its full value due to 10.3 million euros in variable bonuses triggered by Gyökeres’s performance, including Arsenal winning the English Premier League and reaching the finals of the Champions League and the League Cup.

Gyökeres’s sale marks the largest in Sporting’s history and ranks as the fifth most expensive sale in Portuguese football history, tied with João Neves’s move from Benfica to PSG.

Regarding club expenditures, Luis Suárez has become Sporting’s second most expensive signing. Originally signed from Almería for 22.2 million euros, the total cost has risen to 24.8 million euros due to performance-related bonuses. He follows Rodrigo Zalazar, who remains the club’s most expensive acquisition at 30 million euros.
