Sporting CP sets seven‑player core and seeks transfer for Souleymane Faye

Sporting Clube de Portugal's president and sporting director Rui Borges have identified a list of seven players that will form the core of the squad for the 2026/27 season, aiming to guarantee stability as the club brings in new reinforcements.

Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye remains on the transfer market. The SAD wants to sell his registration permanently for roughly €6.5 million after he recorded only 161 minutes in nine matches, was trialled unsuccessfully at right‑back, and was omitted from the recent Troféu Cinco Violinos fixture. Sporting is looking for a solution, with potential incoming attackers such as Australian forward Nestory Irankunda mentioned as future options.
