Sporting CP supporter meets players during birthday visit
Pilar, a five-year-old girl from Cantanhede living with epidermolysis bullosa, fulfilled a dream by visiting the Estádio Alvalade on her birthday. Supported by Sporting Clube de Portugal, she walked onto the pitch to meet the players and the club mascot, Jubas.
Pilar is among approximately 150 patients in Portugal suffering from epidermolysis bullosa, a condition that causes constant pain and internal and external wounds. While the gel Vyjuvek is used in other countries like Spain to help heal up to 70 percent of wounds, it is not yet available in Portugal. However, the manufacturer has recently submitted a funding request to Infarmed to bring the medication to the country.
