Sporting CP to host Strasbourg in pre‑season friendly in Algarve

Sporting CP (Sporting Lisbon) will face French side Strasbourg in a club‑friendly at Estádio Algarve in Faro, Portugal, on 20 July 2026. The match follows Sporting's 4‑1 preseason win over Celtic, while Strasbourg are playing their first friendly of the 2026/27 campaign.

Both squads are missing several players who are involved in the 2026 World Cup in North America, including several Sporting defenders and forwards such as Luis Suárez and Francisco Trincão. Sporting’s line‑up is expected to feature João Virgínia in goal, a back four of Faye, Eduardo Quaresma, Eduardo Felicíssimo and Ricardo Mangas, midfielders Altimira and Doumbia, and attackers Geny Catamo, Pedro Gonçalves and Flávio Gonçalves.
