Sporting events promote tourism in Umbria

Several sporting events held in the Umbria region of Italy have drawn significant participation, highlighting the intersection of athletics and local tourism.

The Granfondo del Montefeltro recently concluded in Gubbio with 850 participants competing across Granfondo and Mediofondo routes. Organized by the Consorzio Turistico Gubbio Alta Umbria in collaboration with local cycling associations, the event aims to promote the Appennino umbro-marchigiano area. Following its 2025 debut, the event has earned the Prestigio di Cicloturismo recognition for 2026 and remains part of the Granfondo Marche circuit.

Additionally, the inaugural Molon Labe Wine Cross took place at the Scacciadiavoli winery in Montefalco. Over 200 participants engaged in a 12 km running course or an 8 km walking route through local vineyards. Organized by Molon Labe Asd, the event included guided winery tours and tastings of local products, such as Prosciutto di Norcia IGP, as part of its focus on combining physical activity with regional heritage.
