Sporting Kansas City coach criticizes defense after Nashville match

Sporting Kansas City coach Raphael Wicky expressed frustration with his team’s defensive performance following a match against Nashville SC. Wicky criticized the squad's first-half play, stating they “defended like kids” and lacked the maturity and physical presence required to compete against a high-quality Nashville roster.

Despite the setback against Nashville, Wicky noted a sense of progress following a recent comeback against the Portland Timbers. After trailing 3-1, Sporting KC secured a point through goals from Justin Reynolds and Andre Luiz. Wicky believes the ability to maintain composure and fight back in the Portland match provides the team with necessary confidence as they continue their season.
