Sportivo Luqueño president rejects Cerro Porteño match relocation request
Daniel Rodríguez, president of Sportivo Luqueño, has expressed significant tension regarding the institutional relationship between his club and Cerro Porteño ahead of their upcoming match in Itauguá.
Rodríguez stated that Luqueño rejected a request from Cerro Porteño to move the match to the Defensores del Chaco stadium. He accused Cerro Porteño of seeking a sporting advantage rather than an economic one, noting the club's current struggle with the threat of relegation.
Furthermore, Rodríguez announced that Luqueño will apply the same restrictions on visiting fans that they faced previously. Specifically, Cerro Porteño supporters will be prohibited from bringing drums or flags into the Luis Salinas stadium. Rodríguez noted that while Luqueño maintains good relations with Olimpia and Guaraní, the friction with Cerro Porteño persists, expressing hope for a resolution in the future.
