SportOkay.com robots reach 3.2 million kilometers in logistics operations

The logistics center of the Tyrolean online sports retailer SportOkay.com has reached a milestone, with its fleet of 72 transport robots covering a combined distance of approximately 3.2 million kilometers since 2018. This distance is equivalent to roughly 80 trips around the Earth.

CEO Konrad Plankensteiner stated that the robots assist employees by transporting various sporting goods, such as clothing and equipment, to workstations. This automation is intended to reduce walking distances for staff, allowing more time for quality control, packaging, and customer service.

The company's logistics hub in Innsbruck has drawn international interest, receiving visits from delegations such as IKEA and Korean Air. This development aligns with global trends in the robotics sector; according to the International Federation of Robotics, sales of professional service robots for transport and logistics rose by 14 percent in 2024.
