Sportradar faces EU and UK antitrust complaints from Altenar
Altenar Technologies has filed antitrust complaints against Sportradar Group with regulators in the European Union and the United Kingdom. The sportsbook software provider accuses Sportradar of using its exclusive commercial agreements with major sports leagues—including the NBA, MLB, NHL, and ATP—to block competitors from accessing essential live official sports data and betting odds.
Altenar argues that Sportradar’s control over these data sources stifles competition and innovation within the sports betting technology market. The company has requested that the European Commission and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) intervene, with Altenar specifically asking the CMA to impose interim measures to ensure independent providers can compete on fair terms.
Sportradar has dismissed the complaints as an attempt to exert pressure during ongoing commercial disputes, stating that the company complies with all antitrust laws in the markets where it operates. The European Commission confirmed it has received information regarding the matter and is currently assessing it, while the CMA declined to comment on specific scenarios outside of formal investigations.
