Sports and cultural events extend tourism seasons in Kemer and Bodrum

In Turkey, various sports and cultural organizations are successfully extending the tourism season in the regions of Kemer and Bodrum. In Kemer, events such as the Sea to Sky Enduro Motorcycle Race—part of the 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship—attract hundreds of athletes from 36 different countries. Kemer District Governor Ahmet Solmaz noted that these organizations significantly impact hotel occupancy rates, prompting businesses to delay closing their doors for the season.

Similarly, in Bodrum, the transition into the autumn period is being bolstered by festivals and sporting events like the 9th International Bodrum Half Marathon, which drew approximately 2,650 athletes and 10,000 visitors. Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci stated that the goal is to expand the tourism season from its current summer focus to six months, then nine, and eventually to a full 12-month cycle through gastronomy, culture, and environmental activities.
