While this is a slight 3% decrease from previous years, it remains the second-highest total ever recorded.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the list of active athletes for the fourth consecutive year, with estimated earnings of $300 million, matching the record set by boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015. The top ten athletes combined earned over $1.4 billion, with every individual in the top ten surpassing $100 million in annual income.

In terms of career earnings for retired athletes, Michael Jordan remains unparalleled. His career earnings from sponsors and business ventures, most notably through Nike, are estimated at over $2.4 billion, contributing to a total net worth of approximately $4.3 billion. Other high-earning retired athletes include Floyd Mayweather Jr., who surpassed $1 billion in career earnings, and Roger Federer, who earned approximately $1.1 billion.
