Gujarat CM flags off national motorcycle rally against drug abuse

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel flagged off a national motorcycle rally from the Gandhinagar Secretariat to the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar. Organized by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the rally is part of the preparations for the National Unity Day parade on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The rally, themed “Fight Against Drugs,” involves more than 550 personnel and officers from 45 teams. Participants include bikers from various states and Union Territories, such as Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, alongside members of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The procession utilizes over 275 motorcycles across four different zones.

In conjunction with the rally, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Gandhinagar organized a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) awareness programme under the Fit India Movement. This initiative, held in collaboration with ‘My Bharat’, utilized traditional Indian sports and fitness challenges to promote healthy lifestyles and substance abuse awareness among youth from multiple states, including Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.
