Sports developments in Paraguay and Argentina highlight regional athletic growth

The Paraguayan Icestock Sport Federation is working to expand the precision winter sport within the country. Led by president Mercedes Mongelós, the federation has been rebuilding its institutional structure over the last two years. Currently, the discipline has approximately 50 players and has received recognition from the Paraguayan Olympic Committee. The federation aims to overcome infrastructure and climate challenges, with long-term goals including a Copa América in 2028.

In Argentina, three athletes from Tierra del Fuego—Benjamín Camino, Lorenzo Orellana Sastre, and Unai Correa—achieved national titles in the first National Scootering Championship held in Avellaneda. Their victories have secured their qualification for the 2026 World Skate Games, which are scheduled to take place in Asunción, Paraguay.
