Sports Ethics Center faces controversy over Kim Byung-ji investigation

The Sports Ethics Center is facing controversy following its decision to dismiss a case involving Kim Byung-ji, the CEO of Gangwon FC. Kim had personally reported himself to the center to clear allegations that he provided preferential treatment to a specific agency employed by his son.

Despite the dismissal, records indicate the center conducted a seven-month investigation, during which investigators transitioned Kim's status from reporter to the subject of the investigation. The investigation reportedly found no evidence of wrongdoing, concluding that player recruitment followed internal procedures and agent fees were within regulatory limits. However, the center ultimately dismissed the case on technical grounds, ruling that a 'self-report' did not meet the criteria for investigation under the National Sports Promotion Act.

In a related development, football commentator Park Moon-sung has responded to public inquiries from Kim Byung-ji. Park denied allegations regarding his past involvement with the Korea Football Association and criticized Kim's approach, characterizing it as an attempt to shift focus away from the core issues surrounding the association and Kim's own allegations.
