Sports facilities face deterioration in Puno and La Concordia

Residents in various regions are reporting the severe deterioration of local sports facilities. In the Azoguini neighborhood of Puno, community members have expressed indignation over the state of a sports field located near the María Auxiliadora coliseum. Built in 1982, the facility has reportedly not received a comprehensive renovation, resulting in broken goalposts and general decay. Residents are calling on the Puno Regional Government and the Provincial Municipality of Puno to intervene to ensure the space remains viable for football, futsal, and volleyball.

Similarly, the Arminio Gutiérrez Castro Gymnasium in La Concordia is facing significant maintenance issues. The facility, which can host approximately 3,000 spectators, suffers from a damaged roof cover that leaves sections of the stands exposed to rain. This exposure has led to the growth of mold and moss on seating. Additional problems include non-functional electronic scoreboards, inadequate lighting for night competitions, and restricted access to bathrooms and locker rooms.
