Sports funding increases in Vukovarsko-Srijemska and Istria counties

In Vukovarsko-Srijemska County, the County Sports Association, co-financed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, has secured €35,992.00 to provide equipment for 22 sports associations. This initiative, part of the 2026 Public Needs Program in Sport, aims to improve training conditions and support handball clubs. A specific distribution of handball equipment valued at €10,627.05 took place in Vinkovci.

In Istria County, local authorities presented contributions to the sporting community, including the purchase of eight vans for sports associations in cities such as Pula, Umag, Poreč, and Rovinj. While Istria County reports that sports budget allocations have risen to nearly €1.8 million, discussions continue regarding the proportion of funding compared to cultural sectors. Currently, Istria allocates approximately €9 per capita to sports, compared to €21 for culture.
