Sports infrastructure maintenance issues reported in Panama and Peru
Sports infrastructure is facing scrutiny in Panama and Peru due to maintenance requirements and facility conditions. In Panama, the Agustín ‘Muquita’ Sánchez Stadium in La Chorrera has drawn concern from fans and officials. Miguel Ordóñez, director of Pandeportes, addressed the stadium's current state, highlighting the need for maintenance and improvements to ensure adequate conditions for athletes and spectators in the Panamá Oeste province.
In Peru, the Municipalidad Provincial del Santa clarified that the Centenario Manuel Rivera Sánchez Stadium is undergoing maintenance from July 30 through the first week of September. The work aims to update the FIFA certification for its synthetic turf. Municipal manager Luis Luna Villarreal stated that the maintenance period was communicated to local clubs, including Club Social Pariacoto, to allow for the coordination of alternative venues for scheduled matches.
