Sports infrastructure projects advance in Puno and Manizales

In Puno, Peru, the Consorcio Torres Belón has begun renovation work on the Enrique Torres Belón Stadium football field. The project involves removing deteriorated tiles and synthetic grass to upgrade the storm drainage system using gravel, sand, cement, and pitch. The upgrades also include the installation of an electronic scoreboard and player benches. Efraín Málaga Mamani, president of the Puno Regional Sports Council, stated the contract has a 90-day execution period, with completion potentially occurring in the second half of December 2026. While social media posts have questioned the quality of materials being used, officials noted that the new materials have not yet been transported to the site.

In Manizales, Colombia, construction is progressing on the San José Sports Unit and the San José Recreational Park. The Sports Unit project involves terrain preparation, terrace formation, and court layout on Carrera 11. Once complete, it will feature covered multi-purpose courts, a running track, and facilities for volleyball, judo, karate, fencing, and gymnastics, along with administrative offices and security systems. Meanwhile, the San José Recreational Park has reached 11% progress, with current work focused on slope formation and ground preparation for various public space components.
