Sports initiatives and competitions expand across Mexico
Various sports initiatives and competitions are being promoted across Mexico. In Aguascalientes, the State Sports Institute (IDEA) is highlighting the cognitive and character-building benefits of chess for children, emphasizing skills such as concentration, logical thinking, and patience.
Aguascalientes is also hosting the 9th National Inclusive Sports tournament at the Ciudad Deportiva. This event serves as a qualifier for the 2026 CONADE National Paralympics, featuring athletes with disabilities competing in disciplines including swimming, basketball, long jump, discus throw, and the 800-meter race. Additionally, the second stage of the Copa Aguascalientes 2026 table tennis tournament is taking place at the Gimnasio Olímpico, featuring over 60 players from seven different states.
In Los Cabos, the Municipal Sports Institute (INDEM) is participating in the national “Puños de Transformación” (Fists of Transformation) initiative. Part of the “Ponte Pila” program, this effort aims to encourage physical activity among youth through boxing and basketball to promote healthy habits and prevent risky behaviors.
