Sports merit awards announced in Baja California Sur and Querétaro

Authorities in Baja California Sur have selected the recipients for the 2026 State Sports Award. Following an evaluation of twenty-two proposals, the committee chose three athletes: cyclist Ricardo Peña Salas, para-athlete Diego “Turbo” Torres Núñez, and artistic swimmer Glenda Inzunza Cabrera. In the coaching category, Lianne Caraballo Jáuregui (artistic swimming) and Enrique Caraballo Valdés (cycling) were named winners.

In San Juan del Río, Querétaro, the 2026 Sports Merit Award winners were determined by a jury of ten members, eight of whom were selected via a public draw. The recognized individuals include Uriel Ballesteros Prada in youth swimming, Alejandro Villafuerte Treviño in kickboxing, Jonathan Emiliano Reséndiz Cruz in paracycling, and Eduardo Lomelí González as a conventional swimming coach.
