Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz begins construction in Los Cacaos

Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz has launched the construction of a multipurpose sports facility in the municipality of Los Cacaos, San Cristóbal. The project represents an investment of approximately 25 million pesos.

Part of the Luis Abinader administration's initiative to ensure every municipality has at least one sports center, the facility aims to promote social integration and youth development. The covered structure is designed to mitigate the challenges posed by the region's mountainous and rainy climate, which previously hindered outdoor sports.

The construction includes concrete bases, sidewalks, perimeter fencing, bleachers, and mixed bathrooms. The facility will feature a metal roof, high-performance synthetic flooring, FIBA-certified professional backboards, a digital scoreboard, and a 24-second game clock.
