Sports recognition and transition events held in Spain

The seventh Night of Sport in Roses honored several athletes and institutions. Swimmer Berta Gelabert was named the most outstanding athlete of the year, receiving the bronze replica of the ‘Trofeu Victòria’ following her successes in Catalan championships and the Roses Bay crossing.

Other awards included recognition for GEN Roses for sports promotion, young athletes Biel, Nora, and Coral Botello, and Miguel Ángel Bernal for his football career. The FADIR inclusive futsal team was named the most outstanding team of the year, while the Illa de Rodes Institute received a special mention for its educational contributions.

Separately, the inaugural Gala Alma took place at the Sant Cugat High Performance Center, focusing on the challenges athletes face when transitioning out of elite sports. The event brought together high-performance athletes and business representatives to discuss emotional, financial, and professional planning. Former gymnast Almudena Cid shared her experiences regarding the identity shifts and professional pivots required after retiring from competitive gymnastics.
