Sports security and stadium regulations discussed in Romania and Moldova
Authorities in Romania and Moldova are addressing public order and safety measures for upcoming sporting competitions.
In Sălaj, Romania, officials held a working meeting to prepare for the 2026–2027 competitive season. Following updates to Law no. 154/2026, new regulations for stadiums include the permitted sale of alcoholic beverages with up to 5.5% alcohol content, provided they are served in open cups and accompanied by responsible consumption messages. However, entry while intoxicated remains strictly prohibited. Other changes include the authorization of pyrotechnic shows in delimited zones, the implementation of UEFA-standard evacuation systems, and the allowance of safe standing zones covering up to 10% of the pitch area.
In Călărași, Moldova, discussions were also held regarding the security of sporting events, with regional involvement from the CMI Ungheni carabineers.
