Greece strengthens UEFA coefficient ranking following club victories

Greek football clubs Olympiacos and Panathinaikos have secured significant points in European competitions, bolstering Greece's position in the UEFA coefficient rankings. Olympiacos achieved a 1-0 victory over Sparta Prague in the Europa League League Phase, marking their third consecutive win in the competition and moving them to fifth place in the standings.

Panathinaikos also contributed to the national tally with a 5-1 win against Kairat Almaty. These results have increased Greece's total to 46,612 points, widening the gap between Greece and its closest competitors, the Czech Republic and Poland, to 887 points. Securing a top-10 finish is critical for Greek football, as it would grant the national champion direct entry into the Champions League League Phase for the 2027/28 season.

In basketball, Panathinaikos secured a 85-79 victory against Baskonia in the EuroLeague, led by Mathias Lessort's 20 points and a double-double from Francisco. This win brings their EuroLeague record to 6-1.
