Sports updates: Football derby and new hockey partnership

In Slovak sports, several developments are taking place across football and ice hockey. In football, TJ Baník Haláčovce-Otrhánky and TJ OFK Dežerice are set to face each other in a derby match as part of the ‘Niké liga na dedine’ project. The event will feature professional amenities typically reserved for higher leagues, including a VAR system, professional referees, a fan zone, and a live television broadcast on Dajto and Voyo.

In ice hockey, HC Košice and the Hungarian club DVTK Jegesmedvék have announced a long-term cooperation program starting in September 2026. The partnership focuses on the development and integration of young players, allowing talented athletes from DVTK’s academy to participate in professional training sessions with HC Košice. The program also includes coach development through seminars, joint training sessions in Košice and Miskolc, and participation in international tournaments.
