Spotify and Believe partner on licensed AI music remixes

Spotify and Believe have entered into a licensing agreement to launch a new tool that allows fans to create AI-powered remixes and covers of songs. The initiative aims to bring fan-made content into a licensed environment where artists and rights holders receive royalties from streams of these remixes.

The tool is intended to be offered as a paid add-on for Spotify Premium subscribers. Unlike social media remixes, these tracks will link back to the original artist, potentially driving discovery for the source music.

To ensure artist protections, participation is entirely voluntary. Believe and TuneCore will implement a two-step consent process: artists must first opt-in to be considered for AI-related programs, and then specifically decide whether to participate in the Spotify partnership. This approach aligns with principles of consent, control, compensation, and transparency.
